This week's prompt:  It was over in seconds.

And now for your reading pleasure…

There Were Signs
pt. 8 (cont'd from 2012)

Dorian wasn't purposely trying to evade Wolfe...honest he wasn't. It was just pure coincidence that he chose the library closer to his place that he knew Wolfe never utilized, that he ate lunch at the Vegan Hut knowing Wolfe was a serious carnivore eating meat at every meal—and boy did Dor understand why now—and he didn't maliciously accept the invitation from Tanya to attend a party at her apartment even though he vaguely recalled that Wolfe couldn't stand her for some odd reason so he definitely wouldn't be there.
Of course, on the flip side, Dor didn't consciously take the long—and most decidedly out of the way—route to Tanya's house, so he now stood in front of Wolfe's duplex staring at the teak door that could bruise any set of knuckles that knocked on it. At this distance he compared Wolfe's heavy ass door to the peeling green one on the attached duplex and finally understood why his best friend installed such a sturdy door. It wasn't necessarily to keep people out.
Dorian shivered, and it had nothing to do with the mild weather.
He knew he wasn't planning on going to the party at Tanya's. Wolfe lived in the opposite direction, and even though Dor may have missed the signs Wolfe gave him like an idiot...he wasn't one. He knew he had to figure this shit out with Wolfe today, before the last full moon of the month.
A glance at his watch showed it was just after four, at least two hours until dusk. Oh goody, at least he wasn't cutting it close or anything.
"Are you going to stand here forever?" A voice as familiar as his own whispered into his ear.
Dor wasn't sure if the sudden gooseflesh all over his body was from surprise, fear or arousal. Hell, he could toss all three of those emotions together and have one hell of an aphrodisiac if his hardening prick had a say in the matter.
He allotted himself some major brownie points for not flinching or turning toward the owner of that low and guttural question, even if the owner now proceeded to cover the side of his neck with heavy and hot breaths of air. So much for his dick hardening, he could now officially drill nails into a two-by-four with it.
"Um...how long have you been there?" He asked his best friend.
Dorian's hair fluttered as Wolfe leaned even closer and inhaled deeply. "About thirty seconds after you got here."
Something snapped in Dor and he clumsily took a step away while ducking the super sniffer and waving his hands in the air. "Okay, that's it. Enough with the extra stealthy thing and for god's sake stop sniffing me."
After partially tripping over one foot in his agitated state, Dorian finally straightened up and glared at the man behind him. His best friend stood there with his stupid, cocky, one-side-up grin and a twinkle in his eye.
"You were fucking with me?"
Wolfe laughed out right now. "Hey, you fuck with everyone else. Dude, I just got back from the corner store"—he held up a plastic bag with the green Acre's store symbol on it—"picking up coffee. I'm out and always need it the morning after. I saw you standing there doing nothing but staring and so yeah, I fucked with ya."
Dor punched him in the shoulder, causing his fist to throb and Wolfe to just grin larger. "At least look repentant about it."
"No." Wolfe headed up the walk to his front door, calling over his shoulder, "You coming in or are you in the middle of a personal crisis about us and need some more time?"
"You're an ass." Dorian mumbled under his breath. Louder he hollered, "I am not having a personal crisis about us."
"Liar."
Dorian watched Wolfe unlock his front door, once again grateful that the man lived on the street all by himself so they had privacy even when outside like this.
The non-crisis he refused to admit to thankfully was over in seconds. He quickly followed Wolfe into the duplex and securely shut the door behind him.
"So, you need your jolt of caffeine after chasing your tail all night?"
Wolfe didn't miss a beat as he made his way to the back of the duplex and the kitchen. "Funny considering my wolf seems to think he's gonna be chasing your tail tonight. Who do you think runs faster...you or him?"
Swallowing the lump now in his throat, Dorian wondered if it was too late to go to Tanya's party.
"What's wrong, Dor? Am I being too mouthy for the Dorian Ackers?" He disappeared into the kitchen.
Dorian didn't realize he was walking down the hall until he passed the bathroom door and glanced in to see the toilet's tank without the lid on it. Well of course the lid wouldn't be there, it was smashed in his bedroom where Wolfe so easily broke it while trying to get to Dorian's said tail.
But he didn't do it. Dor took strength in that knowledge and held his head high as he rounding the corner into the kitchen.
"As if you could ever be as mouthy as me."
"He likes your mouth." Wolfe's voice was lower now, almost as if he said it to himself. He faced the counter as he continued. "There is something about your bravado that appeals to him. Normally during the days of the full moon he is antsy, restless to get out and run. It's like when you drag stocking feet across carpet then touch something, that shock that flows through you. The moon pulls to him, but you seemed to anchor him. He still wants his time out, Dor, and he wants you here with him."
Dorian turned Wolfe around and looked into eyes that weren't quite human anymore. When Wolfe spoke again a distinct growl filtered into his voice.
"Will you be here with him?"
